Convert the "search year highly skilled" residence permit to a residence permit as a highly skilled migrant.
The Netherlands considers it important to give highly educated students the opportunity and time to find a job in our country after their studies. A search year permit also known as a search year for highly educated people allows recent graduates with a nationality from outside the European Union to stay and work in the Netherlands for a period of up to one year.
There is no obligation during this search year to work for an employer who is a recognised referent. During this year, as a graduate student, you can work for any employer in any type of job.
If you want to continue living and working in the Netherlands after the search year highly educated, the residence permit ‘search year highly educated’ must be converted into a residence permit as a highly skilled migrant before the end of the search year by an employer who is a recognized referent with the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) or you start working as a self-employed person. An additional advantage for your employer is that a reduced salary criterion (€2801) applies. The reduced salary criterion remains applicable as long as you continue to work continuously for an employer who is a sponsor with the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).
